Informational Presentation Relating to Development of Vacant Property Adjacent to Mariner’s Cove
The Hawaii Kai Marina Community Association (HKMCA) requested an opportunity to address Mariner’s Cove owners and residents about their plans to build a private boat trailer storage yard for exclusive use by HKMCA members on a piece of vacant property adjacent to the Cove. The subject parcel is situated at the front end of Kamilonui Valley just off Kamilo Street. While the boat trailer storage yard will not be in the Cove, it could impact nearby Cove properties and have an overall effect on traffic in our neighborhood. Since HKMCA selected only one of the three options to access their land, use of the boat trailer yard will require boat owners to move their boat trailers through Mariner’s Cove to get to their private boat storage facility.
Your Board of Directors voted to allow the HKMCA to use the clubhouse on Tuesday, July 6, 2010 at 7 p.m. so that residents can attend this presentation, ask questions, express their concerns and voice their approval or disapproval. The approval of the Mariner’s Cove community is not required for this plan to advance. The Mariner’s Cove Bay Club Association Board of Directors also has no authority to approve or disapprove the establishment of this yard and has taken no position on it. The HKMCA still has to obtain permits and hold a public meeting before being considered for approval of their plan. The public hearing is also independent of the monthly Hawaii Kai Neighborhood meetings where the issue has yet to be introduced by any member of the community or the HKMCA.
You are encouraged to attend this informational presentation. The HKMCA will present their plans and answer any questions you may have. Registration is not required.
