Call for entries for Maunalua Art Contest for July 4th celebration

 HAWAII KAI – East Oahu students in grades K-8 are invited to submit artwork for the Independence Day at Maunalua Bay art contest.

The winning art will be used on T-shirts and all event collateral for the 2014 and 2015 July 4th celebration. Deadline for entries is February 12, 2014 and the winner will be announced online February 28th at and posted on the community bulletin board at Koko Marina Center.

To enter, students must submit an original drawing on 8½ x 11 white printer paper that depicts “What I love about Independence Day at Maunalua Bay.” The drawing must include the following information on the back:

1. Name of student

2. Age

3. Address

4. Phone number

5. School

6. Title of image

7. Parent signature

Entries must be mailed in an envelope large enough to not fold the drawing. Mail entries to MCF Art Contest, c/o Reilly, 7177 Kamilo St., Honolulu, HI 96825. All entries are the property of Maunalua Communities Foundation.

Natalie Iwasa, Art Contest Chair will work with art contest judges: Alan Hong, former manager of Hanauma Bay, Elizabeth Reilly, co-president of Maunalua Communities Foundation, Bobby Moderow Jr. of Maunalua and marine and wildlife artist Patrick Ching to select the first-, second- and third-place winners. From the top three winners the public is asked to help select the first-place winner by voting online at between February 18th - 23rd.  The People's Choice (first place) winner receives $200 in cash and prizes.

Maunalua Communities Foundation sponsors the art  contest and the annual July 4th community celebration and fireworks.

The Foundation has a long-term vision of providing the community with a Culture and Arts Hale.
